Barry Masterson is an artist residing in Limerick. He is a native of Dromard, Co. Longford who holds a B.A in Printmaking and Contemporary Practices from the Limerick School of Art and Design. He primarily works through the medium of photography, in addition to drawing and traditional printmaking methods.
The dominant subject matter throughout his practice revolves around the sporting world, and in particular Irish domestic football. He creates imagery derived from sporting events to make a commentary on issues surrounding the sports themselves, or wider issues which it mirrors within contemporary culture. Ideas of the sublime, isolation and the post-apocalyptic world influence his aesthetic greatly.
Barry has exhibited extensively in Limerick, as well as within Dublin and Kildare.
